- Description
- The Fractional Cover Count (FCC) measures the density of vegetation in a particular area. Generically, this is expressed as the number of LiDAR points classified as vegetation as a percentage of all LiDAR points for the particular area. FCC is computed for each 2x2m cell within 300m either side of the ISC river centre lines. Two types of FCC datasets have been calculated: Height Interval FCCs (used in the Structure 1 and 2 metrics) and Overall FCC (used in the Fragmentation, Vegetation Overhang and Vegetation Width metrics). An Interval FCC dataset has been calculated for each of the following six Height Class Intervals: 1.5-5m, 5-10m, 10-15m, 15-20m, 20-25m, 25+m using the following formula: Height Interval FCC = (Number of Vegetation points in Height Class) / (Total Number of Vegetation points above 1.5m). A single Overall FCC is calculated using the following formula: Overall FCC = (Total number of Vegetation points above 1.5m) / (Total number of Vegetation points above 1.5m + Total number of Ground points). In total, there are seven FCC raster datasets calculated. In 2014 a second project was undertaken to produce FCC datasets for the following height classes (1.5-2m, 2-3.5m, 3.5-5m) using the same formula and methodology.

- Comments
- The Fractional Cover Count values are expressed in decimal percentage and are continuous, floating point values between 0 and 1.
Missing Data
- Comments
- The Fractional Cover Count datasets have been created to an extent 300m either side of the river centreline.
