Traffic Signals - VicMap Digital Road
dataset:
TRAFFICSIGVDR
Point layer generated from the intersections (nodes) of linework depicting the road network. Points are attributed for the type of intersection, eg intersections with traffic signals, round abouts etc.

Attribute Quality
- Comments
- There has been, and continues to be a vigorous quality control program in place to validate and verify the accuracy of the BEST Cad area.
Positional Accuracy
- Comments
- The measure of accuracy given for VDR data is the source scale of the mapping from which the digital data was initially derived. Source map scales, from 1:40 to 1:25000. Cartographic generalisation of features may have occurred at topographic map scales of 1:25000. It is not possible to guarantee the final planimetric accuracy of the VDR other than estimate possible errors due to the positional accuracy of the source material and data conversion and manipulation processes. A conservative estimate of 5m and 20m for the standard deviation of the VDR within the Melbourne Metropolitan area, and the Rural areas respectively will be used in any data quality information. Alternate and equal ways of expressing this error are: * Not more than 10% of well-defined points will be in error by more than 8.2m for the Melbourne Metropolitan area and 33m for Rural areas. * The worst case error for the data is +/-15m for the Melbourne Metropolitan area and +/-60m for Rural areas
Conceptual Consistency
- Comments
- The logical consistency of the VicMap Roads data is tested using a mixture of UNIX scripts and ARC/INFO commands. Where less than 1% logical consistency errors are allowed the entire population is tested. Where a less stringent limit is set for allowable errors, then a random subset of the relevant features in the tile is generally tested. The samole size is determined using statistical tables using the known population size of the relevant feature.
Missing Data
