Tree Cover simplified for display at scales between 1:150,000 and 1:500,000
dataset:
TREE100_BASIC
This dataset is a simplified version of TREE100 with areas less than 500,000 sqm deleted and the remaining features generalized using the bendsimplify algorithm with a 100 metre tolerance.

- Description
- Derivation of this dataset uses 50 ha as the minimum polygon size and 100 m as the generalize weed tolerance. Processing details are defined in the Arc/Info aml tree100_simple.aml as follows: drop source cover items that may prevent dissolve working properly remove undersize tree cover polygons in source cover populate undersize hole polygons with a present value dissolve out undersize holes generalize remaining features populate undersize hole polygons created by the generalize with a present value populate large orphan tree cover polygons created by the generalize with a present value dissolve out undersize holes remove any remaining undersize tree cover polygons created by the generalize dissolve out any undersize holes within holes remove any label points in the world poly populate large orphan tree polygons created by the generalize with a present value

Quality
Attribute Quality
- Comments
- As per TREE100.
Positional Accuracy
- Comments
- Less than 500 m
Conceptual Consistency
- Comments
- Areas less than 500,000 sqm that formed holes in the tree cover have been coded 'P' (present) and then dissolved out.
Missing Data
- Comments
- Coverage is topologically valid and complete for the State of Victoria.
